Events which are connected with Great Groves and other local woodlands will be published here. We give talks illustrated by slides to various organisations including Natural History societies, church groups and gardening groups. There is no charge but we accept donations on behalf of conservation societies.

The following is a list of work party events which have been arranged by the Countryside Management Service. They all start at 10am and end at about 3pm.

Sunday 15th December 2002

Xmas SocialMeet at Broxbourne West car-park. The day will be a mixture of work, funand food. The work in the habitat glades will be continued during themorning and we will have a BBQ in the afternoon.

Sunday 12th January 2003

Pond management in Bencroft WoodMeet Emanuel Pollards car-park. The pond needs scrub and vegetationremoving from its edge to allow more light into it to attract wildlife.Trees will also be removed from the car-park frontage to improvevisibility.

Sunday 26th January 2003

Hornbeam coppicingMeet at Bencroft Wood West car-park. The coppicing work continues,building on from December's task.

Sunday 9th February 2003

Pond restorationMeet Emanuel Pollards car-park. A number of ponds have been rediscoveredin Wormley Wood, following recent woodland management work. The task willinvolve clearing trees and vegetation from around them to improve light conditions and make them more attractive for wildlife.
